Walk into a weaving shed in Pandesara in May and you feel it before you see it: 41°C outside, easily 47-48°C under the trusses, the air thick with lint and the smell of warm yarn. How to choose: HVLS vs exhaust vs coolers for a Gujarat factory
The short answer: HVLS fans for general comfort cooling over large open floors, exhaust fans to physically remove heat, fumes, dust or humidity, and air coolers for spot-cooling people at workstations. Verified installCase study, a Sachin, Surat weaving unit beating 47°C truss heat
Before — the problem
A power-loom unit in the Sachin GIDC near Surat called us in peak summer. With around 120 looms across an 18,000 sq.ft shed and a low truss, the floor was running 46-47°C by afternoon. They had 22 wall-mounted fans going flat out, noisy, dusty with lint, and barely moving the air where the weavers stood. Yarn breakages were up and two operators had walked off the shift in the heat.
What Aruth installed
We surveyed the shed, ran the airflow numbers and replaced all 22 wall fans with three 6.1 m gearless HVLS fans laid out to wash the whole floor with a steady 1.5-2 m/s breeze at operator height. Total connected load for the three fans came in well under what the 22 fans had been drawing.
The result
The result: floor-level temperature dropped a felt 4-5°C, the lint kicked up by the old wall fans settled, and the noise came right down. On their running hours the owner is looking at payback inside roughly two years on fan power alone, before counting the fewer breakages and steadier shifts. The three fans are covered by our 2-year warranty and serviced by our own Ahmedabad team.
