Coimbatore is a metal and machine town, and that is exactly what shapes its ventilation problem. The city runs more than 500 foundries plus a deep base of pump, electric motor, textile machinery, wet grinder and machine tool plants, and almost all of them put real heat into the air. A melting furnace and a casting line radiate heat you can feel from across the shed, and they throw off metal fumes and sand dust that have to leave the building, not just get pushed around. We have spent years on floors like these, and the rule never changes: the right ventilation is never one product, it is the right product for that exact heat, fume, dust or humidity load.

The climate here makes the job harder, not easier. Coimbatore sits below the Western Ghats and gets hot, and being in Tamil Nadu it carries real humidity too, especially through the monsoon and the muggy pre-monsoon weeks. That humidity matters for two reasons. First, evaporative air coolers work less well in damp air, so we do not lead with coolers the way someone might in a dry inland town. Second, still, humid air over a hot casting floor feels far worse than the thermometer says. So in Coimbatore we lead with HVLS fans to move air across the whole floor and exhaust fans to physically pull furnace heat, metal fumes and sand dust out, and we use coolers only for limited spot relief at specific workstations.

Each industry needs its own answer. The foundry and casting belt in Peelamedu, Singanallur and the SIDCO Kurichi estate needs high-capacity exhaust to clear furnace heat and smoke, with HVLS away from the molten metal line to even out the shed. Pump and motor assembly floors, machine tool shops and precision engineering units want steady, even airflow that does not raise dust on finished parts, which is what HVLS delivers. Spinning and textile mills need humidity-managed, dust-controlled airflow, with exhaust to clear lint and steam and HVLS to beat truss heat over the frames. Air coolers earn their place as an economical way to cool people at fixed stations on a shop floor.

This page is your starting point for Coimbatore. Below we break down each major estate and cluster, why it needs ventilation, and which Aruth system fits, then explain how to choose between HVLS, exhaust and coolers. We are honest about where we sit: we are based in Ahmedabad, but we supply and install all over India, and Tamil Nadu is regular work for our team. Wherever you are in Coimbatore, from Kurichi to Mangalam, the first step is the same, a free on-site survey, an airflow calculation and a written quote, with no obligation.

3 estates

SIDCO Industrial Estate, Kurichi

SIDCO estate: foundry, pumps & motors, engineering, fabrication
1/3

One of Coimbatore's busiest SIDCO estates, packed with foundries, pump and motor units, general engineering and fabrication sheds in Kurichi on the southern side of the city. Casting and fabrication bays trap furnace and welding heat under the roof, so most units here run industrial exhaust to pull that hot, smoky air out, with HVLS fans over the assembly and machining floors to keep workers comfortable.

How to choose: HVLS vs exhaust vs coolers for a Coimbatore factory

The short answer for Coimbatore: HVLS fans for whole-floor comfort over large sheds, exhaust fans to physically remove furnace heat, metal fumes, sand dust or mill lint, and air coolers only for spot-cooling people at fixed workstations. Most Coimbatore plants we fit end up with a combination, because in a foundry or a mill the loads stack. A Singanallur casting shop, for example, needs heavy exhaust to clear furnace heat and smoke AND HVLS to keep the moulding and finishing floor workable.

The deciding factor is what is actually in your air. If the problem is hot, still air over a big shed, a pump assembly floor in Kurichi, a machine tool shop, a textile machinery bay at Mangalam, HVLS is the answer: one 7.3 m gearless fan moves a gentle 1 to 2 m/s breeze across up to about 20,000 sq.ft and feels 3 to 5 C cooler at skin level. If the problem is something you need to physically get out of the building, furnace heat and metal fumes in a Peelamedu foundry, sand dust off the casting line, lint and steam in a spinning mill, you need exhaust, sized to the heat and the shed. On air coolers we are honest: because Coimbatore is humid, evaporative coolers are less effective here than in a dry town, so we use them for limited spot relief, not as the main cooling answer.

Open, hot, low-fume sheds (pump & motor assembly, machine tool, packaging): HVLS fans 2.4 m to 7.3 m, up to 30% lower bills than banks of conventional fans.
Foundries & casting (Peelamedu, Singanallur, Kurichi): high-capacity industrial exhaust to clear furnace heat, metal fumes and sand dust, with HVLS away from the molten metal line.
Spinning & textile mills: HVLS over the frames to beat truss heat, plus exhaust to control lint, dust and humidity.
Engineering, fabrication & textile machinery (SIPCOT Mangalam): HVLS over the floor plus industrial exhaust to pull weld smoke and process heat out.
Corrosive fumes (any dyeing, bleaching, plating or chemical process): FRP corrosion-proof exhaust fans up to about 44,000 CFM that will not rust out in humid, fume-laden air.
Targeted relief for people (QC lines, fixed workstations): industrial and portable air coolers for limited spot use.

Why Coimbatore factories switch to gearless HVLS

The number that moves Coimbatore plant owners is the power bill. Our HVLS fans run on IE5 gearless PMSM motors, so a single 7.3 m fan covers up to about 20,000 sq.ft and replaces 15 to 20 conventional wall or pedestal fans that together draw far more power and cool far less. Across our installs that works out to up to 30% lower fan-related power consumption, with typical payback inside 18 to 30 months depending on running hours. A foundry or mill that runs long cooling hours through a Coimbatore summer gets that payback even faster.

Gearless also means almost no maintenance, there is no gearbox to leak oil onto your castings or stock, and nothing to seize up in dusty, sandy foundry air. That matters in Coimbatore sheds where the air carries sand and metal dust all day. Add the 2-year warranty and the maths gets straightforward. We run the actual numbers for your shed during the free survey: floor area, roof height, headcount and your current fan count and tariff, then show you the kW saved and the payback in months before you commit to anything.

Foundry and mill ventilation, done for Coimbatore conditions

Coimbatore's two big ventilation challenges are foundry heat and mill humidity, and they need different handling. In a foundry or casting shop the enemy is radiant furnace heat plus metal fumes and sand dust, so the answer is high-capacity industrial exhaust mounted to pull that hot, smoky air straight out of the building, backed by HVLS fans set away from the molten metal line to keep the rest of the floor moving. We size the exhaust to your furnace load and shed volume, not to a generic chart.

In a spinning or textile mill the problem flips to heat plus humidity plus lint. Here HVLS fans wash the frames with a steady breeze and beat the truss heat far more cheaply than banks of wall fans, which also stir lint into the air, while exhaust clears lint, dust and the humidity that builds over the floor. Where a unit does dyeing, bleaching or any chemical process, we switch to FRP corrosion-proof exhaust, because Coimbatore's humid air plus chemical fumes will eat ordinary steel fans within months. We confirm the exact mix on site.

Ahmedabad manufacturer, full service in Coimbatore

We manufacture our own fans, which is the practical advantage for a Coimbatore plant: factory pricing, custom sizes fabricated in-house, short lead times, spares on the shelf, and our own engineers, not a third-party dealer, handling the survey, install and after-sales. Our workshop is at GF-001 Mauryansh Elanza, Shyamal Cross Rd, Satellite, Ahmedabad 380015, and Tamil Nadu is regular work for our team, not an out-of-area exception.

We supply and install all over Coimbatore, from SIDCO Kurichi and the Peelamedu and Singanallur foundry cluster to SIPCOT Mangalam and the mill belt. The free on-site survey is genuinely free and genuinely useful: an experienced engineer on your floor, measuring your area, roof height and heat, fume, dust or humidity load, then giving you an honest layout and a written quote. Whether you are a single foundry shed in Singanallur or a multi-bay engineering unit at Mangalam, you deal with one team for survey, fabrication, installation and AMC.

Case study: a Singanallur foundry clears furnace heat and cools its moulding floor

  1. Before — the problem

An iron casting foundry in the Singanallur cluster, supplying machined castings to Coimbatore's pump and motor makers, called us with a problem we see right across the foundry belt. Their 22,000 sq.ft shed ran a melting furnace, a pouring line and a moulding floor all together, and by mid-morning the radiant heat, the metal fumes and the sand dust made the floor brutal to work on. A row of pedestal fans just pushed hot, dusty air around at head height while drawing power all shift.

  2. What Aruth installed

We did a free on-site survey, measured a roof height of about 8.5 m, and mapped where the furnace heat and fumes were collecting under the roof over the melting and pouring zone. Our recommendation was a combination: high-capacity industrial wall exhaust on the furnace-side wall, sized at around 40,000 CFM total, to physically pull furnace heat, metal fumes and sand dust straight out, plus two 7.3 m HVLS fans over the moulding and finishing floor, set away from the molten metal line, to wash that part of the shed with a steady breeze.

  3. The result

After installation the moulding floor ran noticeably cooler, the haze over the furnace cleared, and because the HVLS fans use IE5 gearless PMSM motors the plant replaced roughly 16 pedestal fans with far lower running cost. On their running hours the owner is looking at payback inside roughly two years on fan power alone. The fans carry our 2-year warranty, and our own team handled survey, fabrication and installation end to end.
